The partner
behind the power.

BlueFingerprint® is powered by Canvis, a software and services company providing the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries with simple visual solutions that improve inefficient processes and boost the bottom line.

Canvis began as an effort of one of America’s largest commercial general contractors, who, in 2001, saw the need for a better solution to the existing paper/email process of managing personalization for multi-family residential and continuing care retirement community (CCRC) construction. With widespread industry collaboration, they developed a web-based solution called BlueFingerprint.

The mission of Canvis is to create simple, visual software tools to help eliminate the problems of persistent cost overruns, missed deadlines, poor communication and mistakes. Each new product we develop is backed by expert service that allows you to better serve the needs of your customers.

Our talented team is now your talented team.

Melissa King

Managing Partner
  • Years at BlueFingerprint: 18 (Founder)
  • Years of construction/personalization experience: 27
  • Ways I help our clients: I help identify trends, develop a smooth personalization process, and even assist with resident meetings on occasion.
  • Three things on my bucket list are: Write a novel, travel to Europe, and complete U.S. states tour—only 9 states and Puerto Rico left!
  • Nerdiest thing I do in my spare time: Excel spreadsheets. (Not gonna lie, I’m kind of a guru.)
  • Causes I'm passionate about are: Saving our environment (I speak for the trees) and blood/organ donation.
  • The best piece of advice I'd give: Life is short. Eat the cake.
  • When I’m not at work you can find me: Spectating at a baseball field, softball field, basketball court, rugby pitch or golf course.
  • My favorite family tradition is: Baking pies and cookies with my mom, sister and daughter around the holidays.
  • Best kept secret: I sang with a reggae band in NYC and even performed at Lincoln Center.
  • A movie I saw as a kid that scarred me for life was: The Nightmare on Elm Street. (I really love to sleep.)

Managing Partner
  • Years at BlueFingerprint: 14
  • Years of construction/personalization experience: 14
  • Ways I help our clients: I build strong relationships with clients by sharing best practices and helping them implement a polished personalization process across their communities.
  • Nerdiest thing I do in my spare time: I am hooked on true crime podcasts. I love that some are solved by listeners who get involved.
  • A cause I’m passionate about is: As a first generation American, I volunteer each week to teach English as a Second Language. I want to provide the kind of support my mother received when she came to the U.S.
  • The best piece of advice I'd give: Life’s too short. Work someplace awesome.
  • A hidden talent I have is: I collect rotary desk telephones, video and film cameras and typewriters that date back to the 1940s.
  • When I’m not at work you can find me: Hitting the walking trails with my husband and two Bernese Mountain Dogs.
  • My favorite family tradition is: Opening our home on Thanksgiving to friends and family who may not be able to be with their loved ones during the holiday—one year we hosted 40!
  • The first concert I attended was: U2
  • A movie I saw as a kid that scarred me for life was: Halloween. I’m not sure which is scarier now, the movie, or the fact that I watched it on VHS tape.
